A gas plant was utilizing all their residue compressors to process 200 MMSCFD when it designed to have one as a spare. RCE engineers took data and checked actual compressor performance against predicted performance and found that the compressors were actually operating unloaded even though the compressor panels indicated that they were loaded. The compressor vendor was called out and verified an issue with the unloaders. Once they were fixed the plant was able to lower DeC1 pressure which increased recoveries (~10%), lowered refrigeration duty, and lowered trim reboiler (hot oil) duty.
